La Valle scalza
Sunday, June 28 - Barbecue Area | Contà
Documentary | Italy | 2025 | 70 min.
Directed by Alberto Maroni Biroldi and Carlo Prevosti
Set against the backdrop of the peaks of Val Grande, this documentary tells the story of Gianfranco Bonaldo-known as Gianfry-who, in the late 1990s, left civilization behind to take refuge in one of Italy's most rugged corners. For nearly twenty years, he lived in the mountains in radical solitude, stripping himself of all material possessions and moving naked and barefoot along the rugged trails.
The film is built around footage shot by Gianfranco himself with a small camera and the memories of those who crossed his path, and explores the mystery of an extreme choice, tragically cut short in 2015 by strychnine poisoning, under circumstances that have never been fully clarified. La Valle scalza emerges as the visual diary of a freedom sought and lived to the very last step on the bare earth.
In case of bad weather, the event will take place at the Cunevo Theater
All screenings begin at 9:15 PM; they are free with reservations, subject to availability.
